I am smiling super a lot right now. You know why? Because it’s RAINING! I don’t know how much rain this storm will bring, but I pray so hard that it makes a difference. The region our farm lies in Minnesota was starting to turn to a critical point. If there was no rain within the next couple of days, the crops would complete their deaths. They would be beyond salvation. I wrote this post about the drought just this morning.
However, like a man turning his ear toward the Lord and taking a sip of the living water offered him, the ground is smiling as it takes a drink, perhaps enough to quench its thirst for the time being. When I looked at the radar, the storm was still forming right before it finished passing us. It reminds me almost of the oil in the lamp that keeps not running out. Those sitting in the room with me are squealing with excitement as we hear the rain continuing. I thought of my most recent post when it started raining, and I grew almost excited as I would be if one of my lost friends told me they had found Jesus.
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
But, we need to pray for new believers that the seed that is planted would not be stolen by Satan, that it would not die out because it is planted in shallow ground and cannot have deep roots, and that the cares of this world would not choke it out. We need to pray for the seeds to grow and produce fruit, thirtyfold, sixtyfold, and hundredfold!!! (Mark 4:1-20) In likeness, we’re praying that the winds that came at the end of the storm weren’t strong enough to damage the crops, but we are so thankful for the rain! Praise Jesus!
Here is another song I thought of that came into my head like the rain:
Did I mention I love thunderstorms, like, a lot?
